Well, it is holiday season and a favourite spot of mine is Santorini. One of the Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea, it was once devastated by a volcanic eruption in the 16th Century, forever shaping its rugged landscape and villages where white washed, cubist houses now cling to cliffs surrounded by spotless marine blue waters and deep blue skies. Oh get me on a plane now!
It’s this idyllic vision of marine blue and white that inspires my July colour fix. Recreate a bit of holiday heaven using a colour scheme which embraces the clean crispness of a strong Aegean blue sea against white.
Go really bold and add a full Santorini splash to your walls using marine blue, or reverse it creating a calm white washed base where splashes of marine blue tones are added using Santorini inspired fabrics and painted features. The result is a timeless and serene look that is an inviting and striking as the place itself.
